A Heart for CDs: Campaign by the Label Trollzorn and Bound by Metal

Still an integral part of Metal: physical media. There are still many Metal fans, especially from older generations, who consciously buy LPs, CDs, and even cassettes (we’ve reported on this). The feeling of holding a record or CD in your hands, putting it on or into the player, and listening to an album from start to finish with full attention is irreplaceable. But of course, digitalization hasn’t passed the Metal scene by.

Quite the opposite. Many labels and bands report that platforms like Spotify and others have, overall, done more harm than good. Earnings per stream are often just fractions of a cent. Even with thousands of listeners, hardly any band or label can make a sustainable living from that.
